Good self-care starts first thing in the morning. Even though I am not a morning person I can admit that getting up and tackling the day with a positive attitude really helps me to have a great day. Most of us start the day already not in a good mood. We wake up, mindlessly scroll through our phones before getting up, down a cup of coffee, and then quickly rush the door. In order to have a great day, we must set ourselves up properly. Here are some morning habits to have an amazing day.
Morning Habits To Have An Amazing Day
Wake Up Early
Sleeping in automatically throws off my whole day. As much as I love sleeping in, I find if I do that my whole day becomes less productive. In order to wake up earlier, you must also go to bed earlier. The recommended amount of hours of sleep an adult needs is 8 hours. This means in order to get up at 6 or 7 am one must go to bed at 9 or 10 pm. Try to wind down before bed, put away all electronics 2 hours before. Drink 8 Glasses Of Water
Drinking water has so many benefits, it helps increase your energy, boosts your metabolism, improves your skin, helps with headaches and so many other things. Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning to kick start your metabolism and get your body ready for the day. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water in order to stay hydrated and keep your body functioning in top condition.
Make Your Bed
Another great habit to start is making your bed first thing in the morning. As soon as you get up out of bed quickly make your bed. It only takes a few seconds but it instantly makes your room look neater and then at night, you can crawl into a nice cozy bed.
Turn Your Home into A Happy Space
Getting out of bed can be hard if you don’t feel comfortable in your own space. Whether it is due to clutter in the home or you just have not had the time to add some personal touches to your new space, being comfortable and feeling great about your space is important. Here are some awesome ways to make your home a happier place.
Write Down A Positive Thought
I have really gotten into bullet journaling but even creating a regular journal is great too. Start each morning by writing down a positive thought. This could be anything such as a quote you really enjoy, something good that happened the previous day, something you’d like to do in the future, or anything that comes to mind. Not only will this put you in a positive mindset but you can look back when you are having a rough time at all the wonderful thoughts or things you have done. Eat A Good Breakfast
This is probably my favorite morning habit to have an amazing day. I love food and nothing puts me in more of a bad mood than being hungry especially if I have a busy day planned. Eating a good breakfast is so important. It helps to fuel your body so you can be more productive. We live in such a fast-paced world nowadays that most of us just grab a coffee and call that breakfast. Now of course you don’t have to sacrifice time in the morning to have a good breakfast. Some simple things you can grab in the morning are things like bananas, yogurt, toast, a bagel, or a healthy granola bar. Now of course if you have time nothing beats having a nice spread with bacon, eggs, and toast. There are plenty of things you can grab in a pinch though.
Stretch or Do Some Yoga
Another great morning habit to have an amazing day is some physical activity. If the gym isn’t your thing even doing some simple stretches or a few yoga poses in the morning can really help to boost your mood so that you can have a better day.
Don’t Look At Your Phone
For most people, the first thing they do when they wake up in the morning is check their phone. Whether that be to check their emails or to scroll through all the social media platforms these days, we have become obsessed with our phones. When you first get up in the morning, try to complete these morning habits before checking your phone. Social media while it does have some benefits it also has the ability to disconnect us from the world around us. Ignoring your phone for the first hour of the day can really help to boost one’s mood.
